In an earlier post, The Debates: Will their be a reckoning for Obama, I predicted the outcome of the Romney/Obama debate more accurately than most pundits in the media. Now I’m going to explain why Paul Ryan will defeat Joe Biden in the Vice Presidential Debate. It is a simple call to make once you boil it down to its simple components.
Joe Biden is going on the attack. He has no choice. The best defense is an offense... Especially when you really don't a much of a record to defend... His attack will have three prongs. The first and primary attack will be against Mitt Romney in an attempt to discredit Romney’s performance during his debate with Obama. He will accuse Romney of being a liar about the alleged $5 trillion tax cut in Romney’s economic plan. Big mistake! Not only did the Princeton Ph.D. the Obama Campaign had been using to support the allegation that Romney’s numbers don’t add up, just release a statement that Romney’s plan is sound and it does add up and the Obama campaign has been mischaracterizing his analysis of the plan. You also have Paul Ryan who is perfectly capable of breaking out a pen and paper and giving old Joe a lesson in math and economics. No no Joe you do not want to go down the path of debating budget plans with Paul Ryan… You will look like a bigger fool than you are.
The second prong of Biden’s attack will be at Ryan’s proposed plan for Medicare Reform. Good luck Joe. Your entire platform and party
have no cogent plan to rescue, much less sustain Medicare beyond eight years from now. Ryan will clean your clock.
As for the third prong of Biden’s attack, he will go after Ryan’s past voting record and try to paint him as an extremist when it comes to
right wing politics and women’s rights…. Again, this is nothing that Ryan hasn’t already addressed and is really good at diffusing.
But wait, we have just talked about Ryan’s defense against Biden. We have not yet even considered Ryan’s counter-punching capabilities… How about Ryan asking Biden why he and the president were asleep at the switch, out campaigning at fund raisers while an ambassador and three other state department staff members, who had been refused additional security and protection staff, were being murdered, and their bodies being drug through the streets in Benghazi? Or how about supporting your rationale for raising taxes by a trillion dollars as you plunge the country back into a recession and more likely a depression? There are just too many targets as broad as a barn that leave Biden, and Obama vulnerable and easy pickings for Paul Ryan. Ryan is smart. Biden may be colorful but if he jumps into his vintage sarcastic mode, Ryan will simply ask him how much of this nightmare of an economy is funny to the Vice president…
In any event, Ryan has a sharper mind; he knows the economic issues better than anyone in congress and certainly better than Biden. Biden could lose in a 4 to 3 type score but more likely it’s going to be Ryan 5 Biden 2. Either way, Ryan's win over Biden will add enough momentum to Romney's 8 to 0 defeat over Obama last week and that will be more than enough to pick up the momentum the Romney Campaign and like nine hundred thousand tons of steel in motion heading for the finish line… It won’t and it can't be stopped. By November 6, Obama and Biden will be no more than tiny figures in the rear view mirror of the Romney/Ryan team….
